We had so much fun celebrating Luca's first birthday. It's so hard to believe how fast that first year flew by us. I had been planning this birthday party since Luca was only a few months old, knowing I wanted him to feel so loved by his family members. Having been living in a pandemic world all year, many of our loved ones hadn't ever met him until his party. It was such a special day getting to see everyone come together again! Okay let's get into the good stuff: the party details!
We will start with The Birthday Boy
His outfit is from Carter's
His crown is from the cutest shop on Etsy
Safari hat is from Amazon and we use this hat every single day now! It's the best!
The House Decor
We purchased the tropical photo backdrop from Amazon and added a DIY balloon garland from this kit, also from Amazon.
The "Wild One" foil balloons completed this setup!

The dining room was full of streamers and the table was set for our guests with lots of faux greenery and baby photos! We used clothespins and twine to secure the children's safari hats to the wall. Beneath the hats were the party favor bags for all of the little explorers.
The Cake Smash
We had the majority of the party outside, with canopy tents for shade and rain protection! My favorite part of the party was the cake smash. I didn't know what to expect from Luca but he was very calm and gentle with the cake. My best friend made the high chair decorations with her Cricut (she is so amazing)! We purchased our safari high chair cushion cover from YeahBabyGoods to complete the themed setup. The cake was one we just purchased from Walmart's bakery! I just added the sprinkles to the top and the little animal figurines from Amazon. The "Luca is One" wooden cake topper was from Etsy.
The Food
We opted to do a taco bar because it's easy to keep food warm and provide vegetarian options. As for desserts, my mother-in-law made adorable chocolate-covered rice crispy treats on sticks with animal print! She also made animal print chocolate covered pretzels. I purchased cupcakes from Walmart and added these toppers.
We have had the most incredible year with Luca. If you're interested in following along with our journey and getting a peek into our daily life, give me a follow on Instagram!
